Moscow is home to a number of parks where you can just relax and enjoy the great outdoor weather (of course, this depends on the season during your stay); Gorky Park is the most well-known of these Moscow parks – a great place to rest your tired feet (from all that walking and sightseeing) and simply commune with Mother Nature.

Those who are looking for more exciting outdoor adventures won’t be disappointed; here are some of the activities you might want to engage in:

Fishing – Salmon fishing in Russia is unmatched anywhere else in the planet; head to Khabarovsk and Vladivostok for this. Veselovskaye Reservoir in the region of Rostov-on-Don is famous for gudgeon, bullhead, pike, bream and perch. Fishing expeditions can easily be arranged by local companies.

Hiking/Climbing – Get as close as possible to the beauty of the outdoors as you hike in the areas of Altay Mountains, Lake Baikal and the west Ural Mountains. However, maps and marked trails may be hard to find, so it’s best to have expert guides with you when you go hiking or climbing.

Skiing – What better way to enjoy the snow in Russia than to go skiing? You won’t have any difficulties looking for skiing opportunities – within 80 kilometers from Moscow alone, there are at least 20 ski slopes waiting for eager skiers!
